Woodworkers Exhibition was well attended. I had a good selection of Woodcarvings available, and the interest in Woodcarvings were great. This is my table as displayed of my Woodcarvings.

This coming Friday and Saturday the 11 and 12 May, I have several Woodcarvings pieces on display at the Great Woodcarving Exhibition in the Memorial Hall in Cooroy Main street.
This is a piece of Art that takes a lot of patience with a very steady hand. The trick is never to work on one piece too long. Go away, do something else, then come back with a fresh eye, especially since this type of Woodcarving needs to be exact in every fine detail.
This is an interesting Fact, not many of us know.
Koalas aren’t bears as many people are led to believe. They aren’t even related to bears. The koala is related to the kangaroo and the wombat. The koala is a mammal. The reason the koala is called a koala bear is because the koala looks like a teddy bear. The koala’s scientific name is Phasclarctos cinereus.
The shy Platypus is found only in eastern Australia, where they live on the edges of rivers and freshwater lakes where burrows can be dug. the only mammals that lay eggs instead of giving birth to live young.

I do like this saying picked up from a website, it is so true, not only with woodcarving but also with any art. The concentration it takes to produce your very best, be it so a beautiful Sculpture in Wood, or a piece of Fine Art, the time disappears, before you know it another day closes its doors.
Woodcarving is a wonderfully inexpensive hobby that allows the Artist to escape pressures we all face and let the problems of the day float to the floor along with the shavings.
If you don’t have a tool box or tool caddy that keeps tools separated, place a rubber wine cork (vs a real cork) on the end of your tool to protect the edge. When inserting the tool into the cork, place the cork on a solid wood or plastic surface and carefully push the tool into the cork. DO NOT HOLD THE CORK IN YOUR HAND WHEN INSERTING THE TOOL.
This is a way that some Carvers separate their tools. However I have found a better way, I will include a photo later on. I was given an Artist, Cloth Folder for protecting the Brushes, with individual slots, and since the length of the brushes correspond with the length of the Carving Tools, it has become an excellent folder for my Carving Tools. It keeps them nicely separated. At the end of the day the tools are slot in the separate places, the cloth folded up, the string tide together. The best part, unfolding it in the morning, they are all lined up ready for use. Makes it easy, does it not?

There was an almighty bang, as the trees overhanging our Garden was chopped down.
The Bird feeder as pictured took a direct hit, and of course was cut in two. Never mind, it was depilated. So, another woodcarving was added to my already full list.
The Material already is sitting on the table, ready to assemble. A photo will be added here the moment it has been erected.
